Selena Nunes
Selena. In a word she is as difficult as grasping a wisp of wind or trapping a sunbeam in a jar. Radiant, often elusive, yet always warm, peaceful and beaming bright, she was born in Nairobi.
She, along with her
family, cruised down to India, where she grew up in the beautiful Garden City
of Bangalore; from the wilds of seamless skies of Africa to the blossom-filled
British Pensioner’s Paradise.
As a teenager, she
ran a full-fledged library for ten years, immersing herself in the love of the
written word.
She has categorized
her poems into seasons of the heart, meshing emotion with each season.
Many of her poems
have been composed with the magical background of Nairobi, Africa. She returned
there after many years and has absorbed the awesome wonder of Serengeti National
Park, Masai Mara and Ngaruroro National Park.
The rest of her
poems are set in India, with a few across the globe. The Indian poems trace the
splendour and magnificence of India, especially Bangalore, where the Poetess
grew up and Goa, and from where she hails; the islands she has travelled to,
the rivers that she has forded, the hills she has climbed.
Her life is built on faith. Her faith
is simple and child-like. Unwavering. It
permeates everything that she does. She prays from a Bible that her grandmother
passed down to her. Her saddest time was
when her father passed on.
She wears different hats – some even
bizarre. Her happiest moments have been on the banks of the River Cauvery and
under the African starry sky.
She is extremely
sensitive, caring and non-controversial. She excels at creative writing in the
advertising arena. An out-of-the-box thinker, she loves the magic of poetry and the
wonder of stringing words together. Passionate about ideas, she dabbles in oils,
bakes cakes and scripts ad films. Even crafts exotic chocolates; indulges in
the beauty of nature and photography.
She loves all of
God’s nature, finds happiness, balance, inspiration and harmony in nature;
loves wild flowers and trees. She seeks a daily spiritual bouquet – every day-
and finds it – a bouquet of wild flowers by the wayside, a cherubic smile of a
child.
Selena
continues to witness seasons of the heart that melt with awe and soul
satisfaction. She enjoys her travels to Europe, Middle East, Far East and
Africa. She currently resides in Bangalore.
May Her Reat In Peace.
